No, You don’t need VAT number while you creating seller central, you will be required to be VAT-registered and to upload your UK VAT number when you place your inventory in UK.

While creating your UK selling account, you have option of VAT number in company registration details. But this is optional; your account would be created without the VAT number, but before selling your products, you need the VAT number; otherwise, you can’t start selling.

While creating seller central, you do not need to provide the VAT number, it is not mandatory for it.
