I have purchased UPC from GS1, now my UPS is useless or I can ignore the GTIN exemption.

If your product matches an existing product, you can add your offer on the existing product detail page without a GTIN. However, if your product does not match an existing product, you need to request a GTIN exemption and then add your product.

NO, it is not necessary to get the GTIN exemption for the category for the sellers. If you don’t have the UPCs then you can get the GTIN exemption for the particular category.

I suggest you go with UPC because sometimes when you use a GTIN number, it is difficult to make changes on the product backend. GTIN listings do not rank easily; Amazon always prefers those listings that use UPC for ranking.

No its not necessary to obtain GTIN exemption. GTIN exemption is required if any seller want to create the listing without UPC.

If you are a registered seller on Amazon, You need to share the barcode number (GTIN/UPC/EAN/JAN/ISBN) for the products that you want to sell on Amazon. If your product does not have a barcode, apply for GTIN exemption. An exemption is provided for brand and category and you do not have to apply for an exemption for each product. You will be able to add as many of your products on Amazon without applying for exemption again for that brand and category.

It is good for seller to sell their product with the barcodes ( GTIN/UPC/ISBN/EAN). But If seller don’t want to buy barcode he/she have to apply for GTIN exemption from seller central.

Amazon does not require sellers to apply for GTIN exemption when creating listings. When a seller creates a listing without a UPC, they must apply for a GTIN exemption from their seller central account.

Sellers do not require a GTIN exemption to Create a new product listing or sell products on Amazon, and the majority of sellers utilize UPC to create a new listing. However, private-label items are eligible for GTIN but are not required.

This is not necessary to obtain GTIN exemption to create the listing, mostly we use UPC to create the listing, GTIN exemption is only used when you don’t have UPCs.

That is great if you have your own UPC because then you don’t need any exemption, but if you already took an exemption in your required category then you can create your listing through that Amazon not give you exemptions in all categories so it, in that case, you have to have your own UPC which you can buy from GS1.

No that is not necessary to obtain GTIN exemption if you already have purchased UPC from GS1 to list your product.

It is not necessary to obtain GTIN exemption, if you can buy UPC then it is great and will help you to sell in other marketplaces as well.

No, Sellers do not need to get GTIN exemptions for the category. You can get a GTIN exemption for a particular category if you do not have UPCs.

If you don’t have any other product id like UPC or EAN etc. then you need to get GTIN exemption that is free to list your product on amazon and it is not necessary to obtain GTIN.

If you have already purchased a UPC from GS1, you should not ignore the GTIN exemption on Amazon. Amazon requires all products sold on their platform to have a unique product identifier, such as a UPC, EAN, or ISBN. If you UPC is now useless then you can get a GTIN exemption for the specific category. After getting the GTIN exemption you did not need to buy more UPCs from GS1. You can now list the product without the UPCs.

It is preferred that you should go with the UPC as it helps make changes in the listing but if you don’t want to buy more UPC’c then you can also go with the GTIN exemption.
