I am a new Amazon seller who is creating product listings for my inventory. I have heard the terms “highjacking a listing” and “me-too listing,” but I am not sure what the difference is between the two. Can you explain?

Hijacking a listing is when unauthorized sellers take over an existing listing to deceive customers and harm the original seller. Me-too listings occur when multiple sellers offer similar products, leading to increased competition and market saturation. Both practices have negative implications, but hijacking is more deceptive, while me-too listings result from increased competition.

A “hijacking” the listing by selling a similar or identical product without the permission of the original seller or brand owner.
A “me-too listing” is a similar concept but with a few key differences. With a me-too listing, a seller meetoo the listing for a product that already exists on Amazon. However, in this case, the sellers take permission from the brand owner and then meetoo the listing.
