If we run some manual (phrase or broad) campaigns why should we have to use negative targeting rather then pausing the keywords?

If we pause broad or phrase keywords from our campaign then we will not get new keywords on which we can get conversions. So that’s why when we find any irrelevant search terms in our campaign reports we go for negative targeting for those search terms instead of pausing the main keywords.

Sometimes this happens when you got any customer search terms, half of the keyword is relevant and half keyword is irrelevant, mostly this happens in with phrase and broad match type keywords, when this thing happens you don’t have to pause the whole keyword your just negative target the irrelevant part of the keyword, so you can avoid the extra spending.

Because a negative target saves the extra spending of the budget on keywords that aren’t related to your product while turning off a keyword isn’t that good because the keyword you are turning off maybe is a potential keyword that can give you a good ranking and sales later on.
